In 1989, the Dean of Unpad Medical School divided Public Health Dept. into 3 departments; Public Health Dept., Statistic and Epidemiology Dept., and Medical Nutrition Dept. By that time, Med Nutriton Dept has been independent department that Kunkun K. Wiramihardja, MD, Dipl. Nutr. MS. chose to be the first chief with 5 staff members.

In 1998, the department got new staff, Abdullah Firmansyah, MD, Mkes as permanent staff and Prof. Dr. Muhilal as extra-ordinary teacher. 2 yrs later, Dedi Prajitno Salmon, MD retired, and to be extra-ordinary teacher. On Dec 2000, Gaga Irawan Nugraha, MD, M.Gizi to be permanent staff

Firstly, Med Nutrition Dept. Together with Public Health Dept and Statistic and Epidemiology Dept. got adress at Jln. Banda 42 Bandung and then in 1995 moved to UNPAD Medical School Jatinangor First Floor A3 Building. After A5 building has built Medical Nutrition Dept moved to first floor A5 Building.
